Creative Borderland

Connecting cultural and creative industries with tourism through a cross-border cooperation network in South Bohemia and Lower Bavaria.

The project builds relationships and a functional cross-border network of cultural and creative industry stakeholders, connecting them with tourism organisations and companies. This potential has not yet been fully used in the border region.

Creative stakeholders have strategic importance as incubators of ideas and drivers of the economy. They develop cultural concepts and formats that market-oriented sectors adopt and develop. Culture and tourism are economically important and deeply rooted in South Bohemia and Lower Bavaria.

The project maps the cultural and creative ecosystem in both regions. The resulting network connects highly specialised professionals and their ideas with cultural and creative businesses and organisations, innovation infrastructure, tourism, culture and public administration.

The network responds to the COVID-19 crisis by seeking solutions and recommendations to reduce negative impacts on cultural, creative and tourism organisations. It contributes to regional recovery plans through cross-border cooperation and brings creative ideas into culture and tourism during the post-pandemic recovery.

The first phase proposes targeted short-term cross-border measures. Longer term, it supports systematic development of cross-border cultural and creative ecosystems and tourism. Recommendations for public support and investment strategies are included in a Catalogue of Measures.
