Open Data – Czech-Bavarian Open Data Network
The project creates a cross-border network connecting open data owners and digital service providers in South Bohemia and Bavaria. It supports digital connectivity across the Czech-Bavarian region, complementing physical connections.
The primary target group is government, local authorities and public organisations active in opening data, especially near the border. Experienced regional organisations contribute good practice. IT SMEs provide the expertise to build services and applications based on open data.
The first phase maps target groups through a questionnaire and invites them into the network. Data owners meet to exchange experience, cooperate and connect with experts. Service providers focus on experience sharing, data demand, security, standardisation and application development.
In the second phase, the two groups come together. Hackathons support active cooperation, understanding of needs and opportunities, and practical outputs such as application prototypes. Results are presented at a final network meeting.
Knowledge gained while building the network is compiled into a situation analysis with proposed measures to develop data-driven digital services. Information about network members and activities is published as an open dataset and visualised in a map application, remaining available on the website after the project.
The network improves cross-border access to digital services and information. Workshops, hackathons and shared open data stimulate new Czech-Bavarian partnerships and entirely new services.
