VReduNet
The project builds relationships and a functional cross-border network across the programme area, exploring virtual and augmented reality in business and the education system's readiness to integrate these technologies and develop current and future employees' skills.
It connects specialist VR/AR development teams with education organisations, innovation infrastructure and, through them, border-region SMEs. It addresses limited knowledge of the neighbouring region and difficulties finding cooperation partners.
The COVID-19 crisis provides another reason for cross-border VR cooperation. VR can train nurses for unfamiliar departments and equipment such as intensive care devices, helping reinforce understaffed workplaces. Manufacturing applications include safety training and digital twins.
VR can also support cooperation when cross-border movement is restricted. Phone calls, emails and video calls have limits, particularly for 3D product models, customer service, group workshops and company training. Virtual and augmented reality can offer an alternative to in-person meetings.
The project team has access to “Let's Meet VR”, developed by JVTP-based Virtual Lab. It combines remote communication with the benefits of meeting in person, allowing the team to meet in a virtual environment without travel or lengthy planning.
